EDITOR'S NOTE

Good afternoon,

Optus has unveiled attractive mobile data plans today, but as usual there is a catch. Once a user's 12-month subscription is expired, their generous allotment of included data drops in half.

I predict that in 2010 we'll be hearing from a lot of disgruntled customers that didn't notice their 12 months was up and kept consuming data at the same rate, blowing out their excess data charges.

Optus says the onus should be on the user to monitor their contract and data use. What do you think?
