EDITOR'S NOTE

Good afternoon,

Representatives from across the telecommunications industry converged on Sydney today for the Regulatory Reform Forum, discussing options for the Federal Government in its endeavour to force a split within incumbent carrier Telstra.

Telstra took the opportunity to talk of the $1 billion it might cost to split up its IT systems under the most severe form of separation, a sentiment echoed by representatives from BT, which has otherwise reported that its separation yielded positive results.

While we're on the subject - are you getting the best results from your employer? The iTnews job survey is back!

To find out what you're really worth, simply fill in the survey and you'll enter the draw to win $1,000!
