Logistics giant Linfox has inked a partnership with Monash University that will give it access to the institution's technology research tools and experts to work out ways to improve the supply chain.
The "multi-million" dollar partnership will see Linfox tap into Monash's virtual reality, advanced analytics and systems modelling tools to "identify technological advances aimed at enhancing supply chain capability", the pair said.
“We need to innovate to stay on top of the game," Linfox executive chairman Peter Fox said in a statement.
“We’re developing smarter, more efficient transport and warehouse operations for our customers by working with Monash on new ways to use advanced analytics.
“This investment brings our education and research needs under one roof, with Monash our partner of choice for qualifications, leadership training and short courses.”
Linfox said it was also developing its own innovation hub based on the model of Monash's technology innovation hub, a research and teaching centre focused on manufacturing that debuted in 2013.
The logistics giant recently expanded its use of big data - which it previously employed to help truck drivers avoid collisions, using SAP's HANA - to include information on location and delivery times.
