Utilities company AGL is in the market for a chief technology officer to join its reinvigorated executive IT team, in what will mark its first-ever CTO appointment.
The executive will join a new line-up of technology executives at the energy provider after an April 2015 restructure saw its former CIO Owen Coppage depart and a new governance structure introduced.
It appointed three new executives charged with the responsibilities of the former CIO after opting to abolish the role, but later decided to reintroduce the position with the hiring of Simon Moorfield in September.
The new chief technology officer will be responsible for "leading and defining AGL's technical architecture," AGL wrote in its job ad.
The CTO will also need to be able to match AGL's technology needs with the company's strategic direction and disruptive technologies on the horizon.
"As CTO you will provide thought leadership around the use of technology trends and how best to incorporate it in to AGL's program delivery and IT operations," the job ad states.
"Your technical focus and team will cover all aspects of IT, such as software development, use of software products, infrastructure and cloud strategy and architecture, data architecture, and digital technology integration."
It is looking for someone with infrastructure management experience in a large-scale technology environment within a relevant industry. It also wants someone with experience working in matrix structure.
The introduction of the CTO role also follows AGL's establishment of a chief information security officer position, which was filled in February by John Taylor.
