EDITOR'S NOTE

Good afternoon,

The Department of Finance has backed 'appropriate' direct procurement of IT products and services after a Parliamentary Committee expressed grave concerns over the "possibility that value for money is not always being achieved".

The department plans to consult with other government bodies and stakeholders in order to update IT procurement guidelines by early next year.
