EDITOR'S NOTE

Good afternoon,

The big news today is a two-day long trading halt on iiNet shares - with speculation about that Telecom New Zealand is willing to sell its AAPT residential and business (fibre) divisions separately.

Stay tuned to iTnews as this story breaks - we can report that Telecom New Zealand has already spun off AAPT's stake in Macquarie Telecom in a move that certainly lends weight to the rumours...

Also today, we have the first few stories coming out of the Black Hat security conference - including some shaky video footage of a hacker putting an ATM under his spell. Is it for real? Have a look and tell us what you think.
