EDITOR'S NOTE

Good morning,

In its 2010 Budget announcement yesterday, the NSW Government dedicated some $42.5 million to technology upgrades for the state's Police and prisons. The NSW Government CIO was given a flat budget for the year, and tasked with facilitating the state's NBN uptake.

Meanwhile, in WA, IBM announced plans to launch a research 'Centre of Excellence', where it will tackle production optimisation, carbon management and containment solutions for mining, LNG & petroleum industries.
