EDITOR'S NOTE

Good afternoon,
In today's lead story, Josh Mehlman studies the savings the Federal Government anticipates making in its quest to cut down its annual ICT spend.
Government agencies are looking to cut down on application maintenance, wide area network expenditure and contractor headcount, whilst finding ways to extend the life of hardware.
At first look, the savings are set to be poured into virtualisation, data management and telephony projects.
