Dell signs Carphone Warehouse deal

Dell has signed a deal with Carphone Warehouse to sell its PCs as part of an AOL broadband internet package.

The partnership will include sales through the internet, over the phone and at select Carphone Warehouse retail outlets.

A spokeswoman for Dell claimed that the partnership with the mobile phone retailer in the UK was an important element of its evolving global retail strategy.

"Offering systems in Carphone Warehouse is a major opportunity for Dell to connect with customers we may not have necessarily reached in the past," she said.

"Carphone Warehouse has chosen Dell because of its commitment to customers, quality and offering the latest technology that is customisable and personal."

The AOL broadband deal offers customers a free Dell Inspiron laptop and wireless router if they sign up to a two-year contract at £19.99 (A$46) per month.

Carphone Warehouse acquired AOL UK's internet access business from Time Warner in October 2006 in a cash deal valued at £370m (A$863).
