Citrix acquires Sydney-based Aurema
Citrix has announced that it has acquired the assets of Aurema, a provider of processor workload monitoring and management software.

The company’s technology, which dynamically reprioritises processes to ensures all users and applications are allocated their share of system resources, will be integrated into Citrix’s application delivery offerings.

Aurema’s Sydney-based development and engineering team will be integrated in Citrix’s R&D team, also based in Sydney.

According to Citrix CTO office chair & vice president Advanced Products Group, Martin Duursma, the acquisition would allow greater support for customers of its Presentation Server running on Microsoft Longhorn Server.

“The technology addresses the problem of rogue processes that unnecessarily cause CPU spikes,” he said. ”These rogue processes will be allocated fewer resources while other processes, which were previously being starved, will get the resources they need to continue to work, resulting in a more consistent and predictable access experience for users.”

Collaboration between Citrix and Aurema dates back to Citrix's iForum Global 2004, when the company first announced it was licensing Aurema’s technology for Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server, Duursma said.

Discussing the acquistion, Aurema president and CEO said the deal, for undisclosed sum, would provide a way to get its workload management technology out to the broader market.
