Popular source code repository Github battled through a four hour-long global service outage following a "significant network disruption" today.
The company confirmed the issue late this morning following a wave of customer reports that the code repository was inaccessible to users across the globe.
It advised on its Twitter page that a "significant network disruption" had been identified and was affecting all Github services.
No time of service restoration was provided.
"No server is currently available to service your request," its website stated at the time of writing.
The code repository suffered a similarly significant outage in August last year as the result of a four hour-long denial of service attack.
A DDoS attack also downed the service for several days in March of the same year.
Github is used by developers as well as large corporates such as Microsoft to host their open source code repositories.
Update 1:40pm: Github advised the site was recovering and it was continuing to monitor the situation.
Update 3:30pm: Github advised its services were now operating normally. It did not provide a reason for the outage.
