The Commonwealth Bank’s head of IT delivery services Keith Hunter has resigned from the company to return to his native US, with general manager of IT service management and operations Nick Giles appointed to take over the role.

Hunter will end a three-and-a-half year career with the bank early next year to return to the US for personal reasons, iTnews understands.
He joined CommBank in 2011 as its executive general manager of infrastructure and operations, following a previous long-term stint at Visa which culminated in a role as its global head of operations.
Hunter gained his most recent title at CommBank earlier this year as a result of a technology division shake-up under former CIO Michael Harte, which saw him take on broader oversight and management of CommBank’s service delivery and operations.
As head of IT delivery services, Hunter brought together all the teams that build applications for the bank - including elements of security, IT vendor management and procurement, product build, infrastructure and service management operations.
CommBank confirmed Hunter’s departure but declined to comment further. iTnews understands Hunter will depart in the new year after completing the handover to Giles.
The bank is also currently working to replace Steve MacGregor, who was executive general manager of institutional and business banking, before he announced his resignation in recent weeks.
Executive general manager of group and international financial service IT, Mark Potter, has taken on MacGregor’s role in the interim while the bank looks for a permanent replacement.
