AIMIA calls on industry support

The Australian Interactive Media Industry Association (AIMIA) has called on the industry to support the Federal Government's recently launched Action Agenda.

The Australian Interactive Media Industry Association (AIMIA) has called on the industry to support the Federal Government's recently launched Action Agenda.

As reported in IT News, the Agenda is part of the Government’s plans to double the earnings of the local interactive media sector to $42 billion by 2015.

AIMIA national board member Rachel Dixon said in a statement that the Action Agenda needed support in order to be effectively implemented and properly funded.

“We believe that AIMIA has the right industry representation, credentials and experience to act as the liaison between industry and government, lead the industry charge, and drive implementation of the Action Agenda from within the industry," she said.

Dixon said the Action Agenda highlighted that Australia's digital content industry was lagging behind the rest of the world.

“We believe that this Agenda is the key to help us get back on level terms and demonstrate to the rest of the world Australia's dynamic and thriving interactive media industry," she said.

The AIMIA is also calling on members to contribute their opinions on the recently proposed shake-up of the media industry and its potential impact on the digital content industry.

"It is important that we know what our members are feeling if we are to represent them in the best possible way, Dixon said. “It also means that we will be able to ensure a smooth flow of communication between industry and government."
