Linux user group LinuxQuestions.org has announced the winners of its Members’ Choice Awards.

The annual event, now in its fourth year, allows members of the Linux community to choose their favourite products in categories such as Linux Distribution, Office Suite and Web Browser of the Year.

This year has seen open source ISVs Ubuntu, Firefox, MySQL and OpenOffice.org clean up. Past winners of the awards include Red Hat, PostgreSQL and Mozilla.

Founded in 2000, LinuxQuestions is a community of over 220,000 members with 2,100,000 posts on Linux in the home through to enterprise.

Founder of LinuxQuestions.org, Jeremy Garcia, said the awards had attracted a record number of votes the fourth year in a row.

"It's always a great feeling to be able to recognise the hard work that goes into quality Open Source projects", he said in a statement.

With 19.49 percent of votes cast Ubuntu picked up the Distribution of the Year gong while MySQL picked up Database of the Year with a convincing 62.98 percent of votes.

OpenOffice.org stormed the Office Suite of the Year, picking up 84.84 percent of votes and Firefox was lauded the Browser of the Year category on 71.90 percent.
