Aussie SAP specialists Sky Technologies, Stream sold

More consolidation for sought-after skills base.

Australia's SAP services market continues to consolidate with high-profile partners Stream and Sky Technologies being snapped up in separate buy-outs overnight.

Melbourne firm Sky Technologies - specialists in mobilising SAP environments - was bought out by US-based mobile platform maker Kony Solutions for an undisclosed sum.

Through the acquisition, Kony picks up SAP integration skills and "certified integration with SAP environments".

Co-founder and CEO of Sky Technologies, Tony O'Connor, said in a statement that the deal would allow Sky to "extend our existing offering to ... customers who want to mobilise ... non-SAP environments".

Meanwhile, UXC's SAP consultancy, Oxygen Business Solutions, has snapped up fellow services firm, Stream.

The Stream buy adds "around 40" SAP-trained staff to Oxygen's business.

"The two businesses are highly complementary with no overlap in sales pipeline," Oxygen CEO Stuart Dickinson said.

"The addition of the Stream customer base will provide us with a significant increase in software support revenue.

"We will also benefit from new software sales revenue thanks to the addition of Stream's successful SAP All-in-One sales and implementation capability."

Dickinson did not return a call for additional comment.

Completion of the Stream deal is expected by the end of this month.

Stream was known to have business among miners, including Valley Longwall International and Idemitsu Australia.

The pair of acquisitions are the latest in a general consolidation of specialist SAP skills in Australia.

In February, Deloitte Australia snapped up SAP services firm, Logro Consulting, a specialist in business intelligence and analytics projects, particularly in the mining and resources sectors.

And in December last year, PricewaterhouseCoopers bought Sydney-based Avantis Information Systems to expand its SAP Business Objects expertise.
