ClubTelco offers contract-free NBN

ClubTelco has unveiled National Broadband Network retail plans without contracts, provided subscribers pay a $50 annual fee while using the internet service provider.

The new plans range from $35 a month for a 12/1 Mbps connection over the NBN with a 10 GB data quota, to $140 for a 100/40 Mbps connection with a terabyte of quota.

It will offer all four speed tiers available over the NBN network - 12, 25, 50 and 100 Mbps download speeds.

The plans come as a significant premium on the $25 a month ClubTelco users can currently pay for an unlimited quota plan over an ADSL2+ connection in areas where parent company Eftel has its own network infrastructure.

However, the NBN plans also reinstate a uniform price across all Australian residential areas. They contrast to a decision by ClubTelco to remove a cross-subsidy on ADSL plans due to Telstra wholesale pricing.

The plans also provide an indication of the types of prices expected from ISP stablemate Dodo, which has previously pledged to sell an entry-level NBN plan below $40 a month.

Dodo has committed to selling NBN plans through Eftel’s NBN wholesale product, also expected for release this month.

“The feedback we have received from our NBN trial customers has been very positive and we believe our new plans, coupled with this feedback, will place us in the most competitive position in the marketplace,” Eftel chief executive Scott Stavretis said in a statement.
