Optus eyes mobile FetchTV

Joint development.

Optus is developing an IPTV service that could stream pay-TV content to tablet and mobile devices in the second half of the year.

The carrier announced today that it had partnered with FetchTV to “jointly develop an IPTV service with integrated mobile functionality for smartphones and tablet devices”.

A spokesman declined to comment further on how the IPTV service would be structured. It was unclear whether Optus would unmeter mobile data services for the streaming of FetchTV content.

FetchTV is available in Australia from ISPs iiNet, Internode and Adam Internet.
