Salesforce.com goes down

Says it's resolved.

Cloud CRM giant Salesforce.com on Wednesday experienced the wrath of irate customers on Twitter as the company worked to resolve a "disruption issue" on its cs0 instance.

"Please check the status of Trust frequently for updates regarding this issue," it advised customers at 2:21am Pacific Standard Time (USA, Canada).

That outage apparently did not last that long, with the company issuing a statement that it had resolved the issue 14 minutes later, making it a 28 minute disruption.

However, according to its status page, it suffered two previous outages on its N7 instance and CS3 instance on Tuesday.

Still, some users on Twitter vented their frustration at the company for causing them to lose productivity.

The event however had an upside for some. One user - thanks to the discovery of the hashtag "#salesforce.com" - proclaimed the incident a work-related social-networking success, since it uncovered relevant people to follow.

This is exactly the reason why businesses should never outsource the entire farm to cloud or SaaS organisations at the risk of not being able to do business at all !!!

Always maintain at least some capability to continue doing business in-house or with a separate hosting provider.

Nothing worse than a business who has customers but can't process their orders... or worse their payment.
