Exetel signs NTT bandwidth deal

ISP Exetel has signed a deal with NTT Communications to boost its international bandwidth capacity into Asia and beyond.

The company told customers in its December newsletter that NTT would reduce latency on Asian and European routes and allow Exetel to diversify its international routing suppliers.

"Our reason for selecting NTT was the additional diversity they are able to provide for Asian routes as well as to build up non-Southern Cross routes to the USA/Europe," the company said.

"NTT will allow faster routes to Japan, South East Asia and the Indian sub continent as well as a different path to the USA/Europe via the Telstra owned Endeavour cable via Hawaii."

The ISP also said it was adding a fourth point-of-presence in Sydney within Equinix' data centre "to further add to the 'disaster protection' aspect of our business and residential networks."

Rival TPG recently turned on new capacity on its Asian routes via Pipe's PPC-1 cable.
