NBN Co has extended the cut-off date for residents and businesses to return forms consenting to receive a fibre connection from the next-generation network builder.

Chief executive officer Mike Quigley said today that although the response from first-release sites was "positive... there are still a large number of properties that are yet to return their consent forms".
"I recognise that some people may have been holding back given the uncertainty that surrounded the election, so we have now provided an extra window of opportunity," Quigley said.
"We don't want anyone in the first-release sites to miss out on becoming one of the first properties in Australia to become NBN ready."
Potential recipients have until October 8 to return the forms. The previous date was August 31.
First-release sites included Townsville, Willunga, Kiama and Armidale.
