RailCorp has kicked off a three-month trial of free WiFi services at Circular Quay train station in central Sydney.
The trial, reported by iTnews back in June, could be a precursor to the rollout of internet services to other stations on the CityRail network.
Users would be limited to 20 minutes per device "with a morning and afternoon session each day" and a download limit of 50 MB.
"During the trial RailCorp will be seeking feedback to assess the take-up rates and overall response from customers," a spokesman said [pdf].
The trial followed the introduction of free WiFi on the Manly Ferry in June.
Over 40,000 commuters had logged onto that service, according to the NSW Government.
"We are looking forward to see how this might translate to one of our major city train stations," the spokesman said.
