Enterprise software vendor BEA Systems has opened a solutions centre in Sydney in a joint effort between BEA, HP, Intel, EMC and Macromedia.
BEA and its partners would use the centre, one of six established across the Asia-Pacific region, to help customers and prospects develop and test applications before deploying them in a live environment, BEA said in a statement.
Laurence Cole, managing director at BEA Australia and New Zealand, said the vendor wanted to move from selling products to selling "solutions".
"When a potential customer asks us what specific problems our solutions can solve, we can now provide a live demonstration that allows us to take customers through any scenario," Cole said.
The centres were expected to showcase customer service offerings, including business integration platform and employee self service applications.
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and WebLogic Service Delivery telecommunications products would also be displayed, as would institutional and research portals, sales force automation, cross-product clearance and settlement services.
The North Sydney-based centre would also be accessible online from any BEA offices in the Asia-Pacific.
"All facilities will also be available to our partners who will be able to reserve them for their own demonstration or prototyping services," Cole said.
