Optus completes East Coast cable upgrade

Speed boost for HFC network.

Optus has completed an upgrade of its hybrid fibre coaxial (HFC) cable network in the three east coast capital cities to DOCSIS 3.0.

The telco announced the upgrades in November last year, days after Telstra announced similar plans.

About 1.4 million households in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney were expected to benefit.

Selected Optus users were invited to participate in trials of the technology in June.
