The pay-as-you-go service incorporates a variety of software and services, as well as 110 local testers and 6,400 testing specialists, of whom 2,100 are located within Capgemini's newly launched centre in India.

Clients will have access to the HP Quality Centre, HP Performance Centre and HP Application Security licences, infrastructure, and application hosting.

The service is also supported by Capgemini's Test Management Approach (TMap), Test Process Improvement (TPI) and Quality Blueprint test execution methodologies.

Capgemini first announced its intention to launch testing-as-a-service in March, in a move to convert customers' capital expenditure (CapEx) into operational expenditure (OpEx).

According to Nick Finlayson, head of Capgemini Testing Services Australia, the service could reduce the cost of software development and maintenance for customers.

"This on-demand delivery model will make a range of strategic software testing services more readily accessible," he said in a statement.

"The aim is to embed robust testing processes into a range of pre-fabricated test sets, to accelerate the test-deploy timeframe and give our customers the business confidence required to implement technologies quickly, and in ways that provide a true competitive advantage."
