iSoft lands WA Health patient system upgrade

The healthcare software developer said it will receive a license fee of $1.5 million to upgrade WA Health's open patient administration system (TOPAS) to the i.PM product.

Implementation and support services around the deal could add $15.4 million in revenues over five years, although this is "subject to final approval", iSoft said.

There is also potential for an additional $3.5 million in services should WA Health elect to roll out i.PM across as many as 68 rural sites.

The upgrade, part of the state's eHealth reform program, will make Western Australia the nation's first state to run iSoft's entire iSeries suite of products as a fully integrated patient health record across multiple hospitals, the company said.

i.PM would be installed alongside existing iSoft eHealth solutions, including i.Clinical Manager and i.Pharmacy, at 13 sites including Sir Charles Gairdner, Royal Perth Fremantle and Princess Margaret hospitals.

It is predicted some 6,000 users will use the system to access patient registration and referral, waiting list management and bookings, inpatient attendances and outpatient scheduling, among other functions.
