Micro Focus enhances CIO decision-making

Application management firm Micro Focus today launched a new version of its flagship portfolio management product, designed to help CIOs make more accurate strategic decisions.

Enterprise View 5.7 enables CIOs to cope more effectively with challenges such as IT optimisation, governance and compliance, and cost reduction, by consolidating business and technical intelligence across their entire portfolio of critical applications, according to the company.

The new version provides further business value management capabilities, which help to streamline the process of managing business/IT information, and adds enhancements to the product's portal to enable the creation of highly tailored business or technical reports.

Micro Focus has also expanded Enterprise View's platform support to include Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, Sparc Solaris 10, OpenSUSE 10.3, CentOS 5, Oracle 11g and Windows Vista, as well as COBOL/IDMS application support.

"Managing IT assets more cost-effectively is a priority for many businesses in 2009, and we are delighted to bring Enterprise View 5.7 to the market," said Stuart McGill, chief technology officer at Micro Focus.

"Application portfolio management is a management process for ensuring that IT application assets produce the best returns. Leaders have a responsibility to get the most from their business assets, but extracting the most value at least cost from IT is a particular focus for CIOs this year."
