ACT government retains Sophos

The ACT government’s shared ICT services organisation, InTACT, has renewed its agreement with Sophos to supply endpoint security and control software across 27,000 desktops, laptops and file servers.

The new solution covers anti-virus and firewall protection.

The 27,000 pieces of hardware it covers are accessed by some 75,000 ACT government staff and both tertiary and school students.

Sophos said in a statement that it has provided ‘anti-virus protection to the ACT government for the past ten years’.

InTACT will be able to deploy the new software, manage policies and report on security across the network from a single console, the vendor said.

“We look forward to the opportunities for business efficiencies in centrally managing our fleet using the Sophos management console”, said Dave LaMaitre, Manager Desktop Services, InTACT.

The organisation re-selected Sophos after a rigorous tender process.

InTACT operates within the ACT Department of Territory and Municipal Services and has approximately 500 staff that provide ICT and allied services to the ACT Government.
