Dataviz has unveiled a new version of its Documents To Go suite for the BlackBerry which enables users to work with Microsoft Office files on their mobile handset.

Documents To Go Premium edition for BlackBerry is available immediately in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish versions, and supports the viewing, creating and editing of Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents, including the newer Office 2007 file formats.

An Acrobat reader called PDF To Go is also included as a free bonus application.

The Standard edition of the suite is built into newer handsets such as the BlackBerry Bold, BlackBerry Pearl Flip and BlackBerry Storm, but the Premium edition does not require a desktop or server conversion to take place to open documents, according to the firm.

Documents To Go is available under a perpetual licence for US$69.99 or as a one-year subscription for US$49.99.

Meanwhile Quickoffice, which develops a rival mobile suite, has introduced a tool for users of Apple's iPhone that enables direct access to MobileMe iDisk accounts.

MobileFiles, which is currently available as a free download from the iPhone App Store, lets users download files from their iDisk account and store them on their iPhone or iPod Touch for offline access.
