Data#3 chosen as Microsoft reseller for Defence

Data#3 has secured a three-year contract to provide Microsoft products to the Department of Defence, in a bid to cut costs for Government agencies.

The contract was signed on 15 October after an open tender process initiated earlier this year.

It sees Data#3 supplying Microsoft products to Defence as a Large Account Reseller.

“Under the contract, Defence has negotiated competitive pricing for the Large Account Reseller Services in support of procurement for Microsoft products,” Fitzgibbon said.

“This is expected to lead to cost reductions to Defence.”

Defence is negotiating an agreement for Microsoft software requirements as part of the Government’s Coordinated Procurement Contracting Framework. This could potentially allow other government agencies to sign separate reseller contracts without having to put out tenders for the work, it said.

“This can also be extended to all Australian Government agencies, including federal, state and territory, and local government agencies,” said Fitzgibbon.
