NBN Co has verbally quoted a South Australian resident $150,000 to extend the National Broadband Network fibre footprint 1.3 kilometres past its planned boundary, indicating the potential cost to those outside the network hoping to receive fibre connections.

And the Commonwealth Bank has reported its first reduction in IT expenditure in several years as the bank winds up its five-year, $1.1 billion core modernisation program. CEO Ian Narev also confirmed a recent visit by HP chief Meg Whitman after a misapplied patch from the vendor caused widespread outages at the bank.
