EDITOR'S NOTE

Good morning,

Westpac has embarked on a new trial of contactless mobile payments as the bank seeks to compete with Commonwealth Bank's Kaching platform. The company has invited 100 staff and partners to trial the pilot Android app, which uses NFC capabilities embedded on a SIM card.

And Queensland whole-of-government CIO Peter Grant has defended the web security practices of state departments after some sites were defaced.
