EDITOR'S NOTE

Good morning,

Late last week, iTnews' Ry Crozier was confounded by Minister Conroy's assertion that Brisbane's "through the sewer" broadband plan validated the Government's NBN vision.

Could the Brisbane rollout not be seen as an example, Crozier noted, of 'cherry picking' as defined in the $25 million implementation study? How could the Federal Government subsidise rural and regional users if the more profitable inner cities were already wired to fibre via other operators?

Crozier's questions bore some fruit - the Government has now confirmed it is readying legislation to address this dilemma.
