EDITOR'S NOTE

Good afternoon,

Today an economist within the Parliamentary Library released a paper that explores funding allocated to the ALP Government's National Broadband Network proposal.

Whilst the timing of the report's release is fascinating, I have been assured that it followed regular procedures and was not intended to boost or harm anybody's chances at the ballot box on Saturday.

My take is this: It does seem odd that $13 billion of the $16 billion allocated so far was via a contingency reserve, away from the public glare of the budget papers.

I also sense that the ALP will not be increasing the budget of the Parliamentary Library should it return to power!
