Suncorp restructure gives Pancino pure-play IT

Suncorp Group has instigated an internal restructure to create customer-focused functions supported by "leaner" shared services, which has seen the former head of business services given the CIO title and a rejigged remit.

Matt Pancino has served as Suncorp's CEO of business services - a consolidated IT and shared services function for the group - since mid 2014.

His position saw him manage the group's technology, digital functions, and its innovation lab as well as its real estate (physical buildings) and partnering.

As a result of Suncorp's internal restructure announced today, Pancino will now take on the title of chief information officer - a mantle he also held prior to his current role, albeit at a different reporting level - and responsibility for the group's data work.

The chief data office previously sat with the marketing division.

He loses the real estate and partnering functions to the newly-appointed chief people experience officer Amanda Revis, making Pancino's remit pure-play IT.

He will continue to report into Suncorp CEO Michael Cameron.

"This change focuses on delivering the systems and initiatives required to create, maintain and continuously improve customer platforms while ensuring stability and security," Suncorp said.

Suncorp has also created a new "chief customer experience officer" role intended to use data, insights and "forward-looking" analytics to inform product innovation and marketing strategies. Former marketing boss Mark Reinke was appointed to the position.

Similarly, a new chief executive officer role has been developed to manage and create "dynamic and interactive" platforms that allow customers to access any product and brand through any channel. Suncorp named former personal insurance chief Gary Dransfield as the new customer platforms boss.

The appointments will take effect from March 1.
