EDITOR'S NOTE

Good morning,

iiNet has purchased a ten-fold increase in capacity from its contract on the Southern Cross cable system as it moves to discard domestic contracts for global transit in favour of its own international network.

And we take a look at the Linux computing cluster crunching data for one of the Australian telescope arrays behind the Square Kilometre Array initiative. The 24-node cluster is expected to process 50 terabytes of data a day from radio telescopes in the Australian outback.
