EDITOR'S NOTE

Good afternoon,

Simultaneous press conferences in Sydney and Canberra this morning revealed that Telstra has agreed to key terms with both NBN Co and the Federal Government over the lease of Telstra's assets by the Government-funded network company.

The value of those assets are in flux - Telstra's financial results today suggesting that fixed-line revenues are plummeting southward.

Meanwhile, John Hilvert provides an exclusive report on the Government's "wake up call" on digital mapping following the Queensland floods. Speaking of "wake up call" - did you see Nokia CEO Stephen Elop's memo to staff? Fascinating stuff.

"So, the FIMBY (First In My Back Yard) battles begin! It goes to show how wrong the naysayers were that there was no demand for NBN fibre. How's the Armidale take up going - has it hit 95% yet? "
