EDITOR'S NOTE

Good morning,

BlackBerry users the world over should be concerned by the threats governments in India, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have made against RIM in attempting to gain access to encrypted mail messages.

The underlying theme is that these governments value their capacity to snoop on citizens more so than they appreciate the level of trust business users require when sending messages over a public network.

As Governments the world over battle to control internet technologies, the impact on business confidence - let alone consumer rights - is too often ignored.
