NSW Govt. fights terrorism online

In a bid to keep the community informed and prepared in case of a terrorist attack, the NSW Government has launched its own counter terrorism site.

Dubbed secureNSW, the website informs NSW families about measures they can take to prepare and protect themselves in an emergency.

Furthermore, it includes contact details and information on key community programs which aim to increase understanding of counter terrorism and related issues.

According NSW Premier Morris Iemma, ‘secureNSW’ operates on the same level as the United States Department of Homeland Security and the UK Home Office operate.

Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione said secureNSW gave police an additional avenue to communicate information before, during and after an incident.

"This website is a one-stop shop for counter terrorism information in New South Wales and meets our ongoing commitment to promote public understanding of counter terrorism arrangements,” he said.

Ultimately, secureNSW, will inform, advise and educate the public on counter terrorism related information, initiatives and arrangements, said Commissioner Scipione.
