Optima donates additional $10,000 to SHINE for Kids

ASX-listed Optima Technology Solutions has made a $10,000 donation of PCs and notebooks to SHINE for Kids, a non-for-profit organisation for children with parents in prison.

The computer maker made a similar donation in 2005, and will now allow staff to replace older and slower computers and expand its operations across NSW.

"If our ongoing contribution can help open more centres that help more kids, then we’ve hit the mark yet again", said Charles Yan, sales and marketing director at Optima.

“The overwhelming success of the 2005 donation inspired Optima to assist SHINE with its growth plans. Technology...is a great enabler and it’s our responsibility as much as it is our pleasure to help worthy organisations."

SHINE relies on a mix of government and donation-based funding to stay in business.

According to Gloria Larman, CEO at SHINE for Kids, this latest donation is much appreciated and has visibly lifted staff morale.

“I’ve seen staff patting their new 19-inch flat screens, which seems trivial, but really lifts our spirits and makes our work that much more enjoyable,” said Larman.

“With the new computers we now have the tools to grow this program and extend our services through the new centres,” Larman adds.

Optima is in consistent discussions with SHINE as to their requirements and eventhough PC margins are low when the company has a profit they like to do their bit for others, added Yan.
