NSW man charged with child pornography offences
The Australian Federal Police (AFP) has released a statement saying it has arrested and charged a 64-year-old man from the NSW Blue Mountains area with child pornography offences.

The statement said the AFP was working on information supplied by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and then issued two search warrants which were executed yesterday at the 64-year-old man’s Winmalee residence by the AFP’s Online Child Sex Exploitation Team.

During the execution of the search warrant, compact discs containing almost 4000 images of alleged child pornography were located and seized.

The AFP will allege that the man transmitted child pornography images to a website.

The man was taken to Springwood Police Station where he was charged with use of a carriage service to make child pornography available and possessing child pornography for use, contrary to the Commonwealth Criminal Code Act 1995.

The maximum penalty for these offences is 10 years imprisonment. The man was bailed and will appear in Sydney's Downing Central Court on 17 July 2007.

The AFP wouldn’t give any further statements relating to the case.
