Bijou Telephone Co-op, which provides internet access to 10,000 businesses and homes east of Denver, Colo., has implemented iPolicy Network's technology to block attacks that were eating up bandwidth and degrading service.

After evaluating other solutions, Bijou - a 70-year-old phone co-op -selected the iPolicy 4400 Intrusion Prevention Firewall to free up the bandwidth of its T-1 lines and improve service.

"Denial-of-Service attacks were getting past our existing firewall and wasting valuable bandwidth," Bill Buchanan, Bijou executive vice president said in a statement.

The iPolicy technology provides the company with multiple ways to block attacks without requiring infrastructure or business model changes, he added.

Bijou is planning to use the iPolicy 4400 to offer URL filtering services to its customers in the future.
