The Carphone Warehouse is implementing a secure remote access system for its 8000 employees in over 10 countries.

Security firm ActivCard sold the SSL VPN and token based authentication solution (Secure Remote Access Solution and Keychain Token) to the mobile phone retailler.

The firm said it wanted the solution to enable staff to work from home and its various shops and offices. Employees had previously used a dial-up system that IT administrators found difficult to manage.

"As a business, we are now confident in the knowledge that the user will only view what we have given them rights to – and that they can access their information at anytime in a secure, reliable, manner," said Tatjana Relkovic, network analyst for The Carphone Warehouse. "Our employees quickly embraced the solution. From and IT perspective, I've experienced first-hand that the solution is easy to implement."

ActivCard made the announcement at the InfoSecurity Europe exhibition in London.
