Microsoft introduces security bulletin dashboard for admins

Microsoft has released a web-based dashboard for security administrators that provides a customised view of security patch notifications for Windows and other Redmond products, in an effort to to make management of its products easier.

Called myBulletins, the dashboard provides a filtering system to allow customers to find specific security bulletins for certain products.

The editable list of bulletins is dynamic in the myBulletins dashboard, and can be downloaded as an Excel spreadsheet file.

Products covered include all versions of Windows, including the now unsupported XP, Internet Explorer, Office, Microsoft's Server software and applications, developer tools such as .NET Framework and Visual Studio, and security software like Forefront, Antigen and others.

Microsoft said the service is intended for customers who are responsible for security update management within their organisations.

Tracey Pretorious, Microsoft's director of Trustworthy Computing, said myBulletins is the company's way of delivering on the promise to make applying security updates as seamless as possible.

A Microsoft account is needed for myBulletins, but the service is otherwise free to users.
