Susan Sly quits AEMO

Less than three months into the role.

Award-winning CIO Susan Sly has resigned from the Australian Energy Market Operator after only three months heading IT for the organisation.

A spokeswoman for AEMO confirmed Sly will leave the organisation on 24 April 2014.

"The decision has arisen primarily due to a lack of alignment on the expectations of the CIO role at AEMO," she said.

"The decision to part ways is both unfortunate and regrettable, but it is also a courageous one and in the best interests of both parties."

Sly, the winner of an iAward for her last role as CIO at VicRoads, is the third CIO AEMO has hired since it was established in 2009. The last, Chris Ford, was in the role less than two years.

AEMO is the industry and federally funded organisation charged with operating the national energy market and the electricity grid across east and south east Australia.

Sly officially parted ways with VicRoads to take over AEMO's extensive IT operations at the end of January 2014, after more than five years as VicRoads CIO and eight with the agency altogether.
