The Queensland Department of Education, Training and Employment has extended its IT support contract with IT solutions provider Unisys for two years in a deal worth $29.4 million.
Under the new agreement, Unisys will continue to provide IT support services to students, teachers and administrators across all Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutes in Queensland, comprising 82 campuses.
In all, the company will support some 500 servers and 21,000 desktops across TAFE Queensland's 13 institutes. It will continue to manage the local and wide area networks, and provide help desk services.
The extended contract marks a 15-year relationship between Unisys and TAFE Queensland.
The contract extension runs through to 31st October, 2014.
In 2010, Unisys also won a three-year $41 million extension to its IT services contract with Queensland TAFE to modernise its campuses.
Unisys oversaw TAFE's migration to Microsoft Windows 7 and implemented a Single Active Directory environment for improved collaboration between institutes.
