NSW compensation agencies hunt for CIO

IT shared services division begins recruitment.

The NSW Government's Compensation Authorities Staff Division (CASD) is on the hunt for a permanent chief information officer after Geoff Fuggle's resignation late last year.

The division provides ICT services to five agencies including WorkCover NSW, the Motor Accidents Authority and Dust Diseases Board.

Fuggle was WorkCover NSW CIO and director of IT for eight-and-a-half years. He held responsibility for IT service delivery at all agencies under CASD's remit.

CASD was formed approximately six years after Fuggle joined WorkCover NSW. CASD's IT shared services arm "notionally resides within the organisational structure of WorkCover NSW", according to an advertisement for the role.

A WorkCover NSW spokesman declined to discuss Fuggle's departure, but confirmed that Workcover NSW's solution design and delivery manager, Michael Pepper, has been acting in the wider CIO role while a permanent replacement is sought.

Fuggle told iTnews that he had been seeking a new challenge and had since taken a role at Hewlett-Packard.

The CASD CIO is expected to manage an operating budget of $19.9 million, staff budget of $11 million and $6 million of capital projects.

He or she will have seven direct and 77 indirect reports.
