Contract manufacturer Hon Hai is to invest US$63 million over three years to build a cloud computing facility in Taiwan, according to reports.
Focus Taiwan said the investment is part of a push by the company to enter the software development market.
It said that a software R&D centre would be co-located with the cloud facility.
A DigiTimes report stated the cloud facility would be based on "container data centre" technology that is being internally developed by Hon Hai.
Hon Hai is best known for its subsidiary Foxconn, which is contracted to make Apple's iPhone and other devices.
