Apple has recalled its first generation iPod nanos due to "very rare cases" of overheating batteries.
While the chances of overheating were low, Apple notes that the risk increases as the battery ages.
Devices in the recall were sold between September 2005 and December 2006.
Customers will need to wait six weeks after lodgement for a replacement to arrive.
iPod owners will need to submit the serial number which lies on the back of the device beneath the tile outlining its storage capacity.
The problem batteries were traced to a single supplier that manufactured them with a defect, it said.
The defect only impacts iPod nano 1st generation and not any other iPod.
