Sydney man charged over $2.4m toner theft

Cartridges allegedly resold.

A 35-year-old man has been charged by NSW Police with larceny over the alleged theft of $2.4 million of printer cartridges over six years.

The man allegedly stole as many as 23,000 print toner cartridges from a printer and photocopying company at Homebush Bay where he was employed.

The thefts allegedly occurred from 2005 to September this year.

NSW Police investigators alleged that the cartridges were being on-sold privately.

Charges have so far been laid only for toner allegedly stolen this year, amounting to 5000 units.

A raid on the man's home in Sydney's inner west allegedly netted 313 cartridges, which investigators believed to be stolen.

"Further charges will be laid," NSW Police said.

The man was granted bail and will appear before Burwood Local Court on October 6.
