Australia’s new securities exchange Chi-X will move into Equinix and Global Switch data centres in preparation for its quarter four launch.
The Japanese-owned exchange won a market license from the Federal Government last week, after receiving in-principle approval in March 2010.
It planned to establish its primary data centre in Equinix’s International Business Exchange (IBX), which also housed trading service providers Deutsche Börse and Transaction Network Services.
Chi-X’s alternate facility would be housed in managed service provider Access Networks’ dedicated 133kw suite within the nearby Global Switch data centre.
Announcing the deal with Equinix last month, Chi-X Australia COO Peter Fowler said the exchange would begin working with market participants to address proximity hosting and network connectivity requirements.
Access Networks today said it would offer Chi-X participants connectivity to “all of the major domestic and international carriers” from the alternate facility.
